Depression in Men

depression-in-men-here-we-some-and-goHere the focus is on depression in men:

  • the ways that depression manifests itself in men,
  • the signs to look out for if you or a man in your life may be depressed and
  • some ways to deal with depression when it arises.

Men tend to channel their feelings in ways that are quite different to women.

The male tendency to bury feelings can heighten the risk that depression might develop.

It can even lead to a spiral of negative outcomes that might otherwise be avoided if depression is accepted, confronted and dealt with by men early enough.

Similarly, men often deal with depression when it occurs very differently to the way that women do.

At times, these male ‘coping’ mechanisms can lead to harmful consequences, both to the men concerned and to those around them.

The material below addresses these male depression issues in detail and seeks to encourage men to get the help they need to manage and recover from their depressive illnesses.

Why depressed men don’t deal with depression

A Depression Blog

Signs of depression in men – look out for this worrying pattern

Depression Diagnosis

Given what I’m about to write about the signs of depression in men, there are unlikely to be any men reading this. Perhaps that is an exaggeration, but it is hoped that this will be a useful reference both for men who feel that they may be suffering from depression and for those around them, […]
